The Stanze al Genio Museum of Majolica houses one of Italy’s largest collections of hand-painted majolica floor tiles, produced in Campania and Sicily between the late 15th and early 20th centuries.

The museum was born from the founder and collector’s desire to make his collection of more than 5,000 pieces accessible to the public. Gathered over more than forty years, the collection is now displayed in his private residence, which occupies part of the piano nobile of the 16th-century Palazzo Torre Pirajno, in the historic centre of Palermo. The museum first opened its doors to the public on 5 December 2008, and the collection has continued to grow ever since.

One of the defining features of majolica floor-tile production was the constant pursuit of originality in decoration. Today, this is reflected in an extraordinary variety of floral, geometric and Neoclassical motifs, alongside designs inspired by other cultures or created to imitate different materials. This wealth of patterns and forms accompanies visitors through rooms whose walls are entirely covered with majolica tiles, making the experience continually varied and surprising.

The museum also features several smaller collections, including terracotta moulds used in Sicilian pastry-making between the 18th and 19th centuries; a collection of vintage stationery, with ink bottles, pencil boxes and pen nibs produced between 1920 and 1980; and a collection of tin boxes dating from the same period.

Together, these collections, displayed within the historic rooms of the residence and combined with contemporary elements, contribute to the distinctive identity of Stanze al Genio, creating an original dialogue between past and present.

Opera della Primaziale Pisana (O₽A) is a secular-ecclesiastical body managing the complex of the Cathedral of Pisa. Its origins date back to 1063.
O₽A includes the Cathedral, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Baptistery and the Camposanto (monumental cemetery). As well as the Sinopie Museum (Sinòpia - a preparatory drawing applied to the first layer of plaster under the fresco), opened in 1979, and the Opera del Duomo Museum, opened in 1986, exhibiting the treasures of the cathedral and other finds excavated within the cathedral complex.

Parco Archeologico di Pompei has been operating under its current name since 2017.
